SWIM FITNESS FINS - WHAT PAIR IS BEST FOR YOU

Bookmark and Share

When it comes to swim fitness fins, it is important to know what to look for and what works best for your workout. What is important is not to swim with a longer blade like they use in scuba diving, as the longer the blade the faster you will get tired when swimming. The rule of thumb is that the swim blade has to be short and stiff, to give you a better propulsion and less stress on your ankles.

The Zip Fin is the original fin that Aqua Sphere developed a few years ago and has a short split blade and the most popular of the three styles. The fins are worn barefoot, have an adjustable strap that includes a neoprene cover to make the straps more comfortable on your heels. The Zip fins fit correctly when you have a few toes sticking out of the soft rubber foot pocket and without, you may feel the sensation of the fins coming off.

The Micro Fin was introduced two years ago and it is a great fin to use for any swim workout. It has a short blade and a closed heel and purchased as your shoe size. Its gaining popularity and rapidly establishing itself as one of the best fins to use for swim training or fitness swimming.

The newest fin that is in the Aqua Sphere family is the Alpha Fin and one of the best training fins in the market is because of the shape they have. Each fin has a curvature at the end of the blade along with grooves along the fin that channel the water away from the fin. The Alpha fins are unlike any traditional fins as they are made of AVA foam material and will always float. The fins are open heel without an adjustable strap and have a left and right fin. Because of the shape and materials that it is made of, there is no doubt that this will be the most popular fin in the swim fitness world.
